Fisheries Surveillance Centre, Madagascar

The Fisheries Monitoring Center (FMC) of Madagascar was created by Order No. 4113-99 of April 23, 1999 amended by Order No. 13277-2000 of December 1, 2000 for reorganization purposes.

For the purposes of sustainable and rational exploitation, the mission of the CSP is the protection and conservation of fishery and aquaculture resources through its monitoring, control and surveillance activities.

The monitoring of the fishing effort concerns the traditional, artisanal and industrial sectors; the control of fishing activities is carried out on the whole territory; the surveillance ensures the respect of the legislative and regulatory provisions by all the vessels operating in the Malagasy national waters and by all the economic operators of the fishing and aquaculture sectors.
