Ny Aina is a seasoned professional with over 16 years’ experience in natural resource management in Madagascar, including 11 years specialising in marine policy. He recognises that many sector challenges stem from coordination and implementation gaps rather than purely technical deficits. Ny Aina has been instrumental in major marine governance initiatives, contributing to Madagascar’s earliest Marine Spatial Planning pilots and the national mangrove strategy.
Appointed Chief of Party in 2023 for the country’s first standalone USAID-funded marine project, he led efforts to empower local actors in managing marine and fisheries resources until the project ended prematurely due to USAID’s closure. He remains an active advocate for Locally Managed Marine Areas (LMMA) and other resilience-focused governance approaches.
Since joining Resolve Consulting in March 2024 as a Senior Consultant, Ny Aina led a study on the economic value of Madagascar’s marine protected areas, presented at the Foundation for Protected Areas and Biodiversity of Madagascar (FAPBM) 20th anniversary in June 2025. He continues to support national policy processes and is a founding member of Hay Riake, an NGO promoting effective governance and sustainability of marine resources.
